Nine Arrests At MÖTLEY CRÜE's Sarnia Concert

July 11, 2008

According to The Sarnia Observer, Sarnia and Point Edward police were busy last night (Thursday, July 10) because of Sarnia, Ontario, Canada's annual Rogers Bayfest where MÖTLEY CRÜE played to a crowd estimated at 20,000.

Sarnia Police arrested nine male adults, all charged with public intoxication in Centennial Park. Some face additional charges such as trespassing.

"The loud, heavy metal music stirred the crowd into a volatile mood and police were grateful when a brief, passing shower arrived shortly after 10 p.m. to cool things down a bit," said Insp. Ronnie Van Dam in a report issued this morning.

Only one of the arrests occurred after the rain.

There were no criminal complaints but one Sarnia officer was injured during an arrest.

Meanwhile, OPP in Point Edward braced for the "spill over" from Bayfest and positioned extra officers near Exmouth Street.

As a result, OPP officers laid 18 liquor charges and five drug charges throughout the evening.
